What Happened To Salt Lake Homes For Sale Last Month

I'm asked a lot, "What Happened To Salt Lake Homes For Sale Last Month".

Yesterdays post about Home sales in Utah caused the phone to ring with questions about Homes For sale In some cities around Salt Lake as well as Salt Lake City, both the city and the county of Salt Lake.

One lady asked about days on the market for Draper homes, another asked if I would mind doing stats on just Condominiums for sale in Downtown Salt Lake City, and Murray Utah. She was searching for condos near TRAX.

Some possible SLC Home buyers want to know about discounts on homes, and if New Construction Homes are ever sold for less than asking price. They often are considering making an offer on a house and want to know the difference between the asking price of a home for sale on Salt Lake and the actual selling price.

These types of numbers can help make an offer on a home.

So I will try to duplicate the numbers on housing from yesterdays statewide stats for just the homes for sale in Salt Lake County last month.

  • Home sales in Salt Lake were up 21.7% in May.( that includes Utah Condominiums).
  • Buyers who had earlier met the April 30 deadline to qualify for the up to $8,000 tax credit but could not close on time will now be allowed to close the home by September 30.
  • Salt Lake Home sales in May were up 221 units. That includes homes, condos, and town homes in Salt Lake County.
  • In May Utah REALTORS sold 1,235 properties compared to May of 09 where 1,014 Salt Lake homes were sold.
  • This year home sales are up almost 25% over the first 5 months of 2009.
  • Homes and condos priced below $150,000 were the biggest sellers over the last 12 months.
  • There were over 46,000 sales, of homes from $increase.150 to $200,000 in the first 5 months of this year
  • There are 158 Homes and Condominiums listed @ between $750,000 and $1 million dollars. They have averaged almost 200 days on market.
  • The average square foot of listings sold in Salt Lake in May was 2,350 Sqft. down from 2,572 last year.
  • Price per Sqft averaged $103.78 in May 2010, up about $0.50 from last year..
  • Homes sold in May had been on the market about 110 days.
  • The average home sold in May was a 4 bedroom 2 bath, rather than the typical 4 bedroom 3 bath home that we expect to see.
