I got a post yesterday from a First Time Home buyer Asking for Help Buying a Home in Salt Lake City. Actually he wanted to hire a Realtor and buy a 5 bedroom 3 bath home in Salt Lake City, West Valley City, or West Jordan Utah.
This SLC home buyer knew what he wanted.

Congratulations as well. You have already completed steps 1 & 2 of what we think is important in searching for a Home or Condominium in Salt Lake.
Mortgage Loan Pre-Qualification is the first thing we ask folks to do. it seems like you have done that and the only thing that I would ad is that you need to make sure they can deliver the money when it's time to close.
One way you can check them out is to see if they are licensed as a Utah loan officer. It's the law; lenders need to be licensed and appear on a registration with the State of Utah.
Once you select a REALTOR ask them to do further checking.
With an $8,000 Tax Credit at stake you need to be as sure as you can be.
