Utah Real Estate ! The Economy & Other Benefits
I was re-reading "The Presidents message" about Utah Real Estate Playing such a vital role in Utah's economy when it occurred to me that I may not have passed it on to you last week, and that you probably missed it in the Salt Lake Tribune.
So I am going to share with you my thoughts on what was said.
Chris Sloan, President of the Utah Association of Realtors, Broker of our Tooele Real Estate office & one of the owners of Group1 Real Estate wrote the article after attending the new governors inauguration. I think Chris developed some very important information from Governor Herberts speech as well as from stats provided by the National Association of Realtors.
The reason I want you to read it is because the governor has come under fire in some quarters for re instituting a version of the very successful state run Home Run Grant program that awarded grants to over 1600 Utah New Home Buyers.
The Governor understands that Real Estate in Utah plays a very important role in economic recovery.
Heres why:
The Economy:
The 1647 New Homes sold in Utah directly related to the "Home Run Grant" program created 7,305 new jobs in Utah. Those jobs produced almost $240 million dollars in wages and another 20 million in taxes.
Other Benefits:
Children of Home owners achieved math scores 9% higher than children of renters.
Reading scores were up 7%.
Reduction of behavioral problems 3%. ( these stats are from a 2001 Harvard joint center for housing study ).
The U.S. Census American Housing Survey says Home-Owners typically stay in their home 12 years, Renters, no more than 3.
The bottom line to all of this is we wanted you to know that we support the Governor and applaud his commitment to home ownership and ultimately our economy and our Utah communities.
