Utah New Home Buyer Incentive, More Than $6000 !

The Utah New Home Buyers Incentive Program that actually awards buyers of new homes $6000 dollars, means a lot more to the salt Lake economy  than that dollar figure would indicate. (I know the incentive program is state wide, but most of the impact will be right here in SLC)

I mention that because in Saturdays Salt Lake Tribune, one of the lead stories centered around the plight of a Salt Lake Condominium owner that was distressed because she felt that Utah was treating her unfairly by helping to generate new home sales. She opined that her (and other) owners of previously owned homes would be overlooked.

As if the sale of housing is a zero sum game.

If we have learned one thing over the past few years, it was that when  people are buying new homes in Salt Lake, other buyers were quick to buy homes that were being vacated.

Another thing we should have learned is not to  expect the Tribune to mention in that article that the $8000 Federal Tax Credit for first time buyers (passed last month) will certainly help enhance her sales efforts.

It will, but I guess that would have taken the edge from the story.

While from time to time we sell a new home, (our company), I make a living selling previously owned homes, yet I love the new home incentive. I don't feel discriminated against, and don't feel I'm owed some benefit to "get even".

This is a great program, and here's why. I'm going to simplify here, cause I'm a simple thinker.

The $8000 tax credit for first time buyers is going to be used to purchase the houses of move up buyers, so those home buyers can use the $6000 New Home Buyer Incentive to purchase their New Home In Salt Lake City.(one sale creates a second home sale).

Two distict programs. Many home buying and selling incentives !.

But the best part is yet to come.

New Home sales create Jobs, and taxes, and fees. Read one of our blogs from last year to see what impact this new state wide program will have on our economy. Read "Why buy a New Salt Lake Home"
