Salt Lake Homes For Sale Get A Boost !

Home buyers and sellers of Salt Lake homes got a boost today. (or maybe a third of a boost).

The Senate passed a bill today that will give home buyers some great incentives. Tax Credits !!!

That same bill gives sellers more features to promote when packaging their most valuable possession. Tax Credits!!!

This bill helps every one in the Real Estate transaction. Buyers, Sellers, Realtors, Builders, Appraisers, Title Companies, Inspectors,  ETC, ETC, ETC.

It's a win win deal.

But it's only third of the way home. This legislation will be sent to Congress and then on to the President, before it's final. ..... Keep your fingers crossed.

If it passes unchanged, here is a thumbnail sketch of what it will be like.

  • It will give a direct tax credit to anyone buying a home.
  • Applies to the purchase of a principal residence.
  • Tax credit equals 10% of the purchase price, or $15,000, whichever is less.
  • Credit would be recaptured if home sold w/in two years.
  • After two years, credit would not be repaid.
  • Purchase must be made w/in 2 years of legislation being passed.
  • Current housing credit of $7500 is replaced as of date of enactment.

Home buyers can claim credit on their 2008 Income Tax Return, Now thats incentive :
