I'm in the Real Estate business. I help families buy, and sell Houses and Condominiums in the Salt Lake Valley. I've been in it a long time, and its been a good way to provide for a family.
Selling Homes lately however has been a real challenge. Home buyers and sellers are continually hearing negative media spin about the economy, and the future of the housing market. Clients have become timid and uncertain about Utah's economic future. Buyers want to wait until the market goes lower, or to see that they are not going to lose their jobs. Sellers still cling to the 17 to 20% appreciation rate, and forget in many cases that the equity has already been borrowed, the profit has already been spent.
Unless your stuck with a bad loan you can't get out of, It's fear without foundation.
In spite of high employment, a stock market that has recently set records, and the highest per-cent of home ownership in the history of the world, 40% of all Americans think we are in a recession.
I've been through this before and its not forever, we'll get back on track. The media will zero in on another Industry and then we can begin to naturally work through our challenges.
