You Can't Hear us Grow
A big deal has been made about the West Jordan population odometer clicking over the 100,000 mark this year. Not much has been said about a pretty dynamic neighbor just to the south. While West Jordan City officials were taking on the Feds. and celebrating the century milestone (In spite of the census people) with fireworks and loud celebrations, South Jordan was following a very modest plan, and becoming a great place to raise a family.
Though I don't know how a city that can boast of such an impressive development as Kennecott's "Daybreak" with it's own man made lake and plans for over 2000 homes can seem modest, So. Jordan has just plain snuck up on me.
Can you believe it? South Jordan City is now home to 50,000 people, with some pretty ambitious goals for the future and a development plan to keep tax rates moving downward.
Some of the finest communities in Utah are popping up along the Bangarter corridor. Every one knows about Daybreak, but other, smaller subdivisions are worth visiting. Names like Ivory Crossing, Jones Meadows, Jones Farm, Bison Meadows, Harvest Crossing, Riverwalk and The Coves are providing houses for families that will fuel an economic base of local shopping and job opportunities.
No longer a bedroom community to Salt Lake, South Jordan, because of planning discipline, a tax rate trending downward, parks and recreation equal to any in the state, and a commitment to reflect/encourage a wholesome environment for families & children is becoming one of the great places to live along the Wasatch Front.
