I'm a Real Yankee Doodle Dandy
I must admit, I love Parades: The marching bands and the Flags waving. I love just about everything about the 4th of July.
I also admit that it has been especially touching this year to see the displays of gratitude and Patriotism at many of the home town celebrations in the small cities surrounding Salt Lake. Our need to stick together is as real as it ever was.
I hope as a people, AMERICANS, that we never lose our fervor for celebration, when we think of our Freedom & Independence; and we pass that on to our children.
Having said that however, I also hope we never abandon the attitude of that "Old Philosopher" Erma Bombeck who said about this great holiday.
You have to love a nation that celebrates its Independence every July 4th
not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House
In a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics,
where Kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad is iffy, and the flies die from happiness.
