The " Godfather " Used An Agent

Remember the Senate scene in the "Godfather" when the witness testified that Don Corleone gave him the orders, and he then passed the orders on to the "button man" ( to push the button )?  The Senator remarked then that "you acted as a buffer".  The witness smiled and said "yeh, I was a buffa".

The point behind that bit of trivia was that Real Estate agents  fees have been a topic of conversation throughout the Industry and among those that must make the decission on how much, and who to pay.  Of more import, what did they get in return, and what was that worth.?

While I was reading what Chris and Berna had to say on the subject (out in our Tooele Office) I thought about a time recently when I wasn't ready to list my house yet but there were other Condos for sale here at Vista Montana so I put a sign in the window ... For Sale by Owner Agent.   Never again; the door started knocking, people would peek in my windows, families of all sizes would show up at any time, unannounced wanting a tour.  I even had neighbors that have lived here for years and will never move, show up to discuss pricing strategy with me.

So... While Chris and Berna made some great points, and I suggest you read them at "Why pay a Real Estate Commission?" none of them , not proof that Agents get you more for your home, not statistics relative to days on the market, Not even the benefits of professional representation influenced me as much as the thought of meeting a complete stranger without an Agent- set appointment at my doorstep before I've had my coffee.

Now I know what the Godfather knew......." I need a Buffa "....
