Real Estate Info Is what I Thought You Wanted !!
I received an e-mail message last week that bothered me all weekend. Sooo rather than pout, or cry, or kick the cat ( I don't own a cat ) I thought I would share it and see if we understand each other, and frankly, if I'm doing things right.
I decided to use the Internet as my main way of doing the Real Estate business because I had heard that 80% of the people looking to buy a home or choose a Real Estate agent started the search on the internet. Prospective clients are generally 2 months to a year away from making a decision, and that while visitors want home buying, house selling, or financing tips, what they want most are pictures, prices and locations of homes listed for sale. Basically I thought clients wanted to search for homes at their own pace without interference from a Realtor. Simply put, my role was that of the provider of Real Estate info, and when the client was ready, and my info was helpfull, I might be considered.
Imagine my surprise when I received an e-mail last week that at best chastised me for the way I run my business. It went something like this. I have been visiting your site for the last 6 months, and wanted you to know you could take us off your list now as we found a Real estate agent that wanted to work with us personally and we bought a home in South Jordan. We close next week. To my knowledge, I had never heard from this person either by phone,fax,or e-mail. Somehow they must have felt I didn't care about their business, and that my efforts to not be PUSHY were seen as non-caring.
I certainly hope this was an isolated instance, and that all of you out there understand that the fact that I don't pester you with calls does not mean that I don't want to be bothered. I want you to bother me. When the time is right for you. When you have gone as far as you should go without an agent, call me. We can get in the car and go do homes; In person. I still think my way is best.
